Ruth Ware is a British psychological crime thriller author. She wrote In a Dark, Dark Wood (2015), The Woman in Cabin 10 (2016) and The Lying Game (2017). Both In a Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10 were on the U.K.'s Sunday Times and The New York Times top ten bestseller lists. Ware's upcoming fourth novel, The Death of Mrs Westaway, is set to be released in Summer 2018. All of her novels, including the upcoming 2018 release, were published by Gallery/Scout Press. Her works deal with themes of mystery and crime. The rights for her first three novels have already been optioned and are in the works to be made into films. As of 2017, In a Dark, Dark Wood has sold over one million copies in the U.S. alone. Her latest book, The Lying Game, was published July 25, 2017. As of 2017, Ruth Ware has an estimated net worth of $950,000.

She studied English at Manchester University, and there she developed a fascination with Old English and Middle English texts. Before becoming an internationally bestselling author of In a Dark,Dark Wood, The Woman in Cabin 10, and The Lying Game, she was a waitress, and a bookseller. She spent time in Paris,France teaching English as a foreign language, then returning to Northern London to become a publisher's publicity agent. She worked as a publicity agent for fourteen years, switching to part time after having her two children. She now lives in Northern London with a house full of boys; her two children and husband Ian.
 
Even before Ware could write she loved to tell stories as a child to her sister and began writing as soon as she could scribble stories down. Her favorite book as a child was the Green Knowe series by Lucy M. Boston which contributed to her fascination with place and setting. Prior to her published thrillers and her writing careers are Ruth Ware and Ruth Warburton, Ware claimed to have written several works in about "every genre you could think of" including sci-fi and fantasy.
